Thanked: 18Back into straights once again
Been awhile since i used any of my straights. My job situation has me up too early to enjoy a straight shave. Since i started my job 7-8 months ago i have been using my vintage 1963 gillette safety razor. While i get great shaves it is more about utility than anything else. My preference is really with my straights.
So i had time and gave my strops some much needed attention (sanding out previous nicks) and rubbed them until the shine was back in them. Switched out my bea brummel for my first ever straight a dovo. Gave it a few strokes on the strop and lathered up my newest soap Dr Harris Arlington. (My first tier 1, thanks Obie ).
Well have to admit that i never was a great shaver with a straight. Usually got at least one nick per shave. Was no different this time. The thing i realized was i had lost some skills with my straight. and the second was i had to refresh this razor because even tho it shaved and probably would have been unnoticable if i was doing my shaving angles correctly, aith me off my game it really wasn't as pleasant a shave as i was hoping for. The soap ? well we will see. Looks like tomorrow will see how my refresh with chromox went. But it sure is cutting better arm hair now !

Thanked: 59Like you said, I think you'll have a better time of it tomorrow. Wonderful soap too, I use it at least once a week. A little rusty is all, you'll be fine.
