Thanked: 1Which Kamisori..?
Hi there straight razor lovers....!
I am recently thinking of buying a Kamisori. Well i have found two that i like and my budget only allows me to buy one of them. So my question for you guys is which one would you prefer a Tosuke Kamisori or a Henkotsu Kamisori.. Also what are the big differencws between these razors except the name...
I hope you guys can help me with my struggle.
Much thanks for reading this greetings from Auke

Thanked: 13245If the price is close then the Tosuke
Both will perform just fine,
in that price range $100 - $150 USD I have not found them to be shave ready in new condition

You wont make a mistake picking either of those two, they are among the best. Are the razors NOS? If not, some pictures would help determine which is in a better shape. [emoji482]

Thanked: 1Hi guys..!
Yes they are both NOS. The pricerange is very close between the two razors. So I am better of with the Tosuke..? Is a Henkotsu (the brand) newer than a Tosuke or simular..? They both come shave ready honed on a J-nat..

Thanked: 13245See when you say "Honed to Shave Ready" that makes me want to see the pics of the razor after honing
So many people grind the crap outta them while honing, it is pretty depressing

Sizes of them?
For example, my Henkotsu is the large one, 8/8" and I love that blade. I own 2 medium size Tosukes, they should be around 18-19mm and they are just different, because they are smaller. Not better or worse, just different.
It's difficult to answer which. My friend prefers a Tosuke, I prefer the Henkotsu. He says he gets a better edge on the hones, on a Tōsuke... I think there is no difference at all. Go with what you find more aesthetically pleasing (since you won't show us the pics[emoji12])As the time passes, so we learn.

Thanked: 1Thnx for the reply's guys..! Made up my mind and ordered the Tosuke. Pictures will follow when the razor arrives in my p.o.box. The razor is approx 18mm wide. The guy who is gonna hone it for me has honed many Kamisori's and straights so this one will be fine or I will send it back and kick his a$$..! And get a full refund of course...!!
Excuse me if my English is crappy but Dutch is my native language.
With kind regards,
Auke
