Thread: Are these welts? Technique or equipment?

    Not sure if I did it right, but I just tried the thumb pad test, and it didn't grab my thumb at all, and someone tickled down near the inside of the knuckle.
    Also it does not always pass the hanging hair test. It passes maybe 60% of attempts.

    I've never used a shavette, but I think I've read they're more forgiving of high blade angle than a straight (?). I have sensitive skin, and if I'm not careful with 1) blade angle, 2) blade pressure, or 3) shave direction in relation to the grain of my beard, then I will end up with a razor burn that looks something like that, and in the same area too (right along the edges of where a goatee would grow).

    Which directions are the two passes you are using?

    They are definitely more forgiving than a straight angle wise.

    I shave down and in toward the nose as that seems to be the direction of the growth.
