We live in an "instant" world and folks want it now whatever it is. Straight shaving is the opposite of that philosophy and most simply are not willing to put in the effort and take the time required.

That's my opinion why folks don't stick with it and it was true when Gillette came out with the DE and folks left straight shaving in droves and it's even more true now.
