Yeah Karl has restored a few of my razors and I always try them for the first time without stropping as he suggests. I don't remember the first shave being completely smooth but I chalked it up to not being familiar with this particular grind. I've probably shaved with it 10-15 times now.

Thanked: 0So how did it go? Did you resolve the problem?

I'm happy to report that the issue has been resolved.
I wound up sending it back to Karl with another razor that needed to be restored. He decided to re-hone it beginning with the bevel setter and then proceeded to do a complete shave with it before sending it back my way. Shaved like a champ!
I will say unequivocally that there's a difference between the shave I get from a wedge vs even a 1/4 hollow grind from say a FBU. Using a golf analogy, the wedge has a more "boardy" stiff feel which I could easily get used to but is very apparent while in process.
Anyway, special shout out to Karl for getting this razor dialed in for me. Karl, as I'm sure anyone who's been on the receiving end of one of his restorations can attest, is a master craftsman and gentleman as well.Last edited by Str8drive; 02-15-2018 at 02:36 PM.

Thanked: 0Thats great. My last couple of shaves has been with a wedge and the shave was very different to a hollow grind. Very quiet, and what I would describe as, great tranafer of power to the edge.Glad you got it worked out.
