Thanked: 1Your favourite stroke
Do you have a favourite stroke?
Maybe it's the thrill of a first putting steel to skin as you gather up whiskers from sideburn to jawline;
Maybe it's the sweet sound your full hollow makes as you go against the growth from Adam's apple to chin;
Maybe you're the Evil Knievel of Straight shaving and love the rush of making the Fool's pass.
I'd love to hear which stroke (if any) is most satisfying to you.

Thanked: 3225My favourite stroke has nothing to do with shaving. Somebody had to say it, eh.

You beat me to it Bob. Ha.
But id say mine would be the down stroke on my right sideburn. If that come off clean and bbs then i know its going to be a great shave. Its not true for the left side. Go figure.It's just Sharpening, right?

I'm right hand dominant and shave only right handed,
for me it's the opposite
I only do one pass on my left side of the face in an ATG motion, I perfected it for my needs, it's always super smooth one pass ATG no matter how long the growth
something about angle, keenness, smooth edge and technique that's all coming together in a "perfect" stroke, so that would be mine

Thanked: 3225Never worried about the completeness of the first WTG pass as the other three passes, 2 XTG/1 ATG, cure that. I get the same issue on the left side of my face on the downward WTG stroke from the sideburn with a DE/SE.

Thanked: 634They all are. I do have one that was a challenge. Many years ago we were on a cruise on a ship of about 40,000 tons. That's quite small at today's standards. We were in rough weather of 14 foot seas. I braced myself and did he up stroke on my neck with the ship rolling and pitching. Lived thru it without a drop of blood.
