USPS is pretty fast to most anywhere. There are a lot of guys that can hone well and are not far away. Gssixgun, outback and there is a whole bunch of them in Minnesota that can hone well. I have no idea if any of them have a shingle out or not. There is a bunch in Kansas and Missouri too, you could pm modene too. He also does nice work.

is the razor missing regardless of what section your shaving with? could be uneven pressure while honing too. do you have a microscope to see the edge or a loop ? If neither, grab a sharpie, bread knife it and start over.

You might have a foiled edge, or....the bevel was never properly set, from the beginning.

At least 80 laps on leather, after the 12K.

I run a progression of strops, after a honing..

The edge doesn't end on the hone, it stops at the strop.
It either improves, or destroys, an edge. It all depends in your abilities.

“ I had a TI that never shaved well even after sending it out.”

So, there is a pattern developing… The stria on that bevel is not 12k stria, or at least 12k stria that was properly honed. More concerning what are the diagonal scratches on the belly of the razor, this is a $325 razor?

Was it like that when you bought it?

    What are you stropping on?

Sending it out to Glen. I strop on the modular strop. I did try to take it back to the hones against advice from everyone here and probably caused the uneven Stria. When I got it I don’t think it had that problem but it just wasn’t shaving well. I’m sure when I get it back I will be all set. This is a great community and I’m proud to be part of it.

I thing you made a good choice to just send it out. The cost is minimal no matter who you send it to for honing. It will now be right when you get it back and you will have one to compare to your other edges. A keen edge and great shave is right around the corner.

On a side note I was planning on taking a break today from shaving but just got Gabe’s Near Wedge Fili from the bst so I guess it’s shave time!

We've all had a razor like that. I had a formerly esteemed prominent member/vendor here re-hone a razor for me that he had sold me, and when I said, "I still can't get a decent, comfortable shave from it" said...."You just don't like it." I think it just didn't like me.

Generally on new TI's the shoulder of the bevel is the only thing that makes contact with the hone so your edge can never improve till the bevel geometry is properly established. Looking at the top of the pic on post #14 bears witness to what I say. That shiny strip on the edge may be a wire but more likely an incomplete bevel. In any case Glen will fix it.

I take notice of this incorrect statement Jerry. If you send it to some of the so called clowns it will cost more. But he’s sending it to the right guy. One time with Glen on the stones is enough. I’m 4 years into this and I still send mine to him. On some other guys it cost me a bunch to fix what the”honemeister “ did. Tc
