I made it about halfway through.

What is the point of brushing so much?

After a certain point things didn't seem to change.

Okay Papabear 11 - I tried your face lathering method again. This time I used my Arco stick, a badger brush and my favorite Robeson (Barbers Pet). Once again a really great result! The next try will be with some Italian Shave soap. That always produces great lather when I mix it in a bowl. We'll see.... I'm beginning to like this face lathering method!

Face lathering with a stick or hard soap seems to me to be much easier than working up a lather in a bowl. It takes less time, uses less soap (I think) and always seems to raise a good lather for me. It also means that when I travel, I can reduce the amount of stuff I have to pack for a good wet shave.

Thanks again for bringing this to everyone’s attention.

Exactly why I face lather. Face lathering also works well with creams.
