Thanked: 0Im pretty sure that back in the day, before shaving became a hobby, the one pass shave was the norm. I don’t remember even shaving against the grain in the old days. Now, especially have just taken up straight razor shaving, I inevitably do a bit of clean-up, and the one pas takes time.

I'm with Vern. 3 to 4 if I want to get it all mowed down. One pass is a tease for my whiskers.
It's just Sharpening, right?

With a safety razor I only do one pass WTG. If I do ATG even with a good DE I get a rash. With a straight it's almost always 2 pass; WTG then ATG.

I think if you have 'mapped' your face and know which stroke to apply where, a one pass shave, esp with a DE, is quite possible.
I have taken to a shave a week with a straight so 3 passes for me!
Cleaning up a mess takes a bit!

One pass, for me. My razors stay pretty sharp, and if I don't have perfect BBS all over, nobody notices and nobody would care if they did. One pass almost guarantees no irritation, too. DE, sometimes two passes, but a straight or a shavette I only need a single pass. I also don't worry so much these days about shave direction. Here's a video, single pass, several weeks of growth, GD66 razor.
