    Default Rate of beard growth

Okay, here is something odd. I know that shaving has no effect on the rate of beard growth or the thickness of the beard. But since I have been straight razor shaving—five months—I notice that my beard seems to grow faster and is slightly thicker. I generally have a rather light beard. I know it can’t be that I was getting a closer shave before with DEs. In fact the straight razor givea much closer one-pass shave.

I am going to assume you are past your 20's ???

Usually when we go from 20's to 30's some of us get a thicker beard, also when we get to the "Greybeard" we tend to get a tougher beard..

Another thing that has happened to many of us since 2020 is Covid, we know quite a few women that went through a Hair issue with it but it would not surprise me to hear that us guys maybe had some changes from it too

Who knows, quite a few variables going on, hope ya figure it out

Definitely grey beard territory. I’ll check on the Covid connection.

I have noticed that as I age, some of my follicles have stopped firing, especially on the top of my head, but also on my face. I have also noticed that the beard hairs seem to have become coarser. So my face now has some bald spots where there used to be beard and my singing razors sing more loudly than they used to when they hit the hairy spots.

I have found a slightly different phenomenon. My beard does not seem smoother exactly but the stubble seems less coarse. I believe this to be because of the razor being sharper so it cuts the hair more cleanly. I also don't need to shave as often but this has happened since I have been doing against the grain passes. I never did against the grain with a cartridge. Even with a good DE and blade I can't do against the grain or I get a rash but with a straight I don't. Consequently, I wind up shaving every day and a half, maybe two instead of everyday.

I have noticed however that my beard has changed color. Of course it is getting white (instead of gray) in places but even the parts that are not yet white have gone dark instead of the bright red it used to be.

Yeah, when I shaved with a multi blade razor I had to stop doing ATG shaves because I got ingrown hairs and irritation. My DE razors didn't do that, but if I used a milder razor my 5:00 shadow was much more, no matter how smooth the shave.

My hair has darkened a lot as I have aged. It runs in the family. Like most men in my family, I started out very, very blond. My beard was dark, however. As I aged, my hair got much darker. My beard is getting whiter, though.

It looks my beard grows faster on some days, so I had to shave almost everyday, but sometimes it looks okay to go for 4, 5 days. In most of the cases, I shave every two days.

I have recently got into the terrible habit of shaving once a week, then i have something good to shave off and and i look different after.

our basement flooded when we had a terrible storm a few weeks ago and the electric went off for 5 hours.
The sump pump stopped of corse and so 8 inches of water came up.
We went through the insurance and now we are waiting for a new furnace but in the meantime its so hot that i decided to shave with cold water.

I know some swear by it but it must take practice becuse i haven cut my self so much since i started so for me hot water all the way
