Thanked: 0Last straight razor the best
These are the five vintage straights that I own: 1. a Spear #10 (yellow) 2. a King Cutter (White) 3. a Swedish made import (brown) 4. a Wostenholm Pipe razor (black) and 5. The Albionyte, German make, real hollow grind. The Albionyte, my most recent purchase, which doesn?t turn up anywhere, is giving me by far the best shave. Maybe the others need rehoning?I just had the Albionyte honed?or maybe it?s the larger size and better balance.
I can?t seem to insert the image.Last edited by Elnones; 08-29-2024 at 11:54 PM.

There was a site move or something. "Your service outage has been reported and technichians are on their way to fix the problem."

Thanked: 154What does "the best shave" mean to you in this context ?
Closest ? Most comfortable ? Most efficient (as in giving a close shave faster) ?
Did you buy your other razors shave ready ?
If I look at your list, the king cutter should, in theory, feel a lot like your Albionyte, since they are both German makes. If not, then yes it might be a honing issue.
Harder to tell with the Wostenholm, because I guess it's a wedge, and a British wedge and a German Hollow can feel very different when not accustomedBeautiful is important, but when all is said and done, you will always be faithful to a good shaver while a bad one may detter you from ever trying again. Judge with your skin, not your eyes.
