Thread: Using A Straight Razor For The Pate

Has anyone used a straight razor for shaving the top of the head bald? Of course you need someone to help you, but I was wondering if the hair remains dormant a little while longer by using a straight razor.

I think there's a couple of us here who shave our heads with a straight. Yes, it's eminently do-able, and with a bit of practice I'm sure you could do it on your own, particularly if you're talking about the top of the head only. I shave my entire head every day and haven't had any serious issues doing it solo.

As to the longevity of the shave - It's more than likely person - specific but if you can manage a WTG and an ATG pass on the top of your head then I imagine it might last a bit longer than otherwise. I go for frequency - every day - to compensate for only doing a WTG pass (which I find tricky on the back of my head).
