    Default from 5/8 to 6/8

    Hi
I know this question is out there but I had to ask. I am a newbie and doing very well with my (2) 5/8 hollow grds. I am ready to spend a little bit more on a nice razor.
If you enjoy the 5/8 is the 6/8 a bit better? I have a fairly average face I guess. Has anybody found the 6/8 better than the 5/8 size?
    Thanks for the advice...

I did prefer 6/8 and 13/16 when I was starting out. I still like them very much. At that time, 5/8 seemed a tad small, and harder to use for me. Now I love 5/8 too - but still prefer a wider blade, if I have an option. Up to a point - for example, some 8/8 are harder to use, and anything larger is really more for variety for me. I do have a favorite razor that is 8/8, and also others that are 5/8

My face is normal size, btw.

Not sure how much this helps - the truth is that you have to try it and even then - tastes change over time!

    Cheers
    Ivo

Ivo pretty much has it covered. My ideal seems to be 6/8, but I have a 5/8 and 7/8 which are great and easy to handle too.

BTW, I have a 4/8 which shaves really quite well, but psychologically it just doesn't cut it for me!

You can't really say one size or grind is "better". It a subjective thing. Try them out (for a while) and see what you like.

I find that I'm giving pretty much equal time to my 5/8 and 6/8 blades. I have both and enjoy both.

Hi and thank you for the replies..
I think I am going to try the 6/8 and see how I like it.
I was curious on the replies if one size or grind had a advantage over the
    other.
Thank you again for the advice...

    I shaved with three sizes: 4/8; 5/8; and 6/8.
I felt the 4/8 had great maneuvering ability but felt too "small" in my hand.
The 6/8 was much bigger and felt "solid" in my hand, but had less maneuvering ability around my nose, chin, etc. The 5/8 seemed to have the good qualities of both. I now shave only with my 5/8 tortoise Dovo.
It feels "solid" in my hand and scoots around great.

I like them all! 3/8 to a 8/8, the little razors seem awfully dainty in my hand but sure are manuverable. mainly though i use 6/8 and 7/8 as they seem to work fit beeter in my hand
    Be just and fear not.

I prefer 6/8 and 7/8. a 5/8 is just too puny for me. I like the extra weight and stiffness.
