    Question Straight Razor DVD?

    Hi Team,

I'm fairly new to straight razor shaving. I was just about buy Lynn's straight razor shaving DVD, but then I heard Lynn himself highly recommending the John West DVD.

Has anyone out there seen both? How do they compare, and which would you recommend if I was to only buy one of them?

    Thanks y'all

Hmmm, I never heard of the John West DVD before so I can't comment.

However regarding Lynn's DVD. When I started straight razor shaving I ordered Lynns DVD, while I was waiting for it to arrive I had a straight razor shaving lesson at Geo F Trumpers in London.

The lesson at Trumpers cost me £75. And it was quite good, I learned the basics of stropping and shaving in a nice atmosphere. However when Lynn's DVD arrived I learned about 20x more from that than I did from the lesson, at considerably less cost. I felt like I could easily have done without the lesson, and the DVD would have been more than good enough.

+1 on Lynn's DVD being essential - it covers it all, from honing, to stropping, to shaving. It's well worth the money, I would venture to say that it's the "gold standard" when it comes to straight razor DVD tutorials.

Your guys's testimony is more than enough to convince me to get Lynn's one though.
    Thanks for the help.

As far as I know, that shaving demo was done before Lynn's DVD came out. In other words, when there was nothing else available. That might be the part of the reason for the confusion...

Like everyone else, I can strongly recommend Lynn's CD. The section on honing alone makes it worth the money.

Mine hasn't left my player since I got it... granted it's only been 3 days.
