No but the capsicom (sp?) in pepper spray is a fantastic coagulant. Hurst worse than the original wound, I bet, but will stop bleeding in a hurry.

As I was reading these reponses I got to thinking. When my barber gives me a hair cut he takes a straight to the back of my neck and does a little maintenance on my sideburns. On two occasions once on the back of my neck and once on my ear he gave me a nice cut. He's cut my hair (what's left of it) for years, so two knicks ain't that bad. I remember he took a small tube, about the circumference of a pencil and about 1 1/2" long, and squirted a bit on his finger. No pain at all and bleeding stopped immediately. I'm due this weekend, I'm gonna ask him what that is. If it's cheap I'll pick some up and let you guys know and review. I know it's not super glue. I've used super glue on hand cuts and know how it feels and looks. If it's expensive, I don't cut myself enough to lay out a wad. (Knock on wood).

I have found that a product called "My Nik is Sealed" stings less and stops bleedding quciker than a styptic pencil. An alum bar also burns less and is good for minor nicks.

Never used sugar, but I've used salt before...I was in a real pinch...burned like a monkey, but it worked. Not sure about sugar.

Update: I had to break out the Styptic pencil and it stings, but...it won't kill you. A little zing is good for you. It'll put more hair on your chest.

Wal-mart or any drug store should carry them.

It should look like a white crayon.

You may want to try the "My Nik is sealed" first- it stings much less and works very well unless you really give yourself a good one. Clubman sells it (at least that's what I have, I think it's the same stuff). Got it at a CVS- works very well- what it has not stopped my toner with alcohol usually does.
I have the pencil for, well, traveling.

Vets will use a styptic powder on some animals like cats, dogs and especially birds (they don't have a whole lot of blood to loose in the first place) but it's not the same stuff we use- it is a coagulation agent- silver nitrate maybe? The look like match sticks commonly- you can use corn starch too (people or animals)

Not too sure I'd use salt unless it was an emergency- it's gonna sting worse than a pencil...

To repeat Shaun- Brad did you ever find out what the stuff was your barber used??

I have used a styptic pencil for years, it hurts but I have also been married for 27 years and that hurts too Just get used to it.

PS its a real eye opener on the upper lip.
