Thanked: 44I found the Jerk who made my first shaves suck!
If I could slug this guy I would for all the cuts he gave me with this bad advice over the last few years! http://premiumknives.com/ShopSite/Pr...ght_Razor.html
Check this crap out
"We encourage you to start shaving with a more forgiving angle of around 90 degrees. The idea is to scrap all of the shaving cream off of you face with the razor as if you were using the razor as a squeegee. "
I'll show you how my razor will squeegee your face you jerk. But what do you expect from someone who carries mostly colonel conk razors and hones.
but remember "The following information was compiled from a variety of expert sources"
I bet I know who doesn't use a straight.

90 degrees? That's suicide! What kind of yahoo posts this kind of information?
Someone should write this guy an email telling him his information sucks.

Thanked: 44I found that info 3 years ago when I first started. He has no interest in hearing anything from anyone about shaving.
"Unfortunately, we do not provide use instructions or straight razor counseling over the phone. This information should be used only as a general guideline for straight razor shaving and is provided strictly as a service. Like riding a bicycle, straight razor shaving is a unique and individual experience which you must learn for yourself. Like working with all sharp and pointy objects, straight razor shaving can cause bodily harm. We do not guarantee or warranty the quality of a shave using any of our products, the use of the following information is strictly at the liability of the user (and any other participants) and releases PremiumKnives.com of any type of responsibility or liability."

Funny, I swear that somewhere (it wasn't that site) in my hunger to absorb all this is straight razor related, I thought I read something where a 90 degree angle was recommended and I thought that sounded absolutely wacky.
Has anyone else ever heard that maybe in some daft circles at some point in time that was recommended?
What puzzles me only a bit less is that I KNOW I've read in an old published Robeson sales brochure, Robeson recommended to shave with the razor absolutely flat against the face. No spine lift at all. And that wasn't just for wedges from what I recall.
Someday I will be posting a WTB for a nice Robeson "The Razor That Fits Your Face".

Actually, while I was learning my basic angles last night during my first shave, I had to start with the blade flat against my face (my shaking gets bad sometimes) and I still managed to cut some hair, although it wasn't overly close of a shave.
I'd imagine you'll still "shave"...but not anywhere near close.
