Thanked: 0Preemptive worry
I just bought my first razor from Drfred here on the forums. It's a Torrey and should be here some time next week. What I've kind of been worried about all this time is this though. I'm still fighting the back end of my acne problems, but I think I'm almost done with it, thank goodness. My main concern is the face on my skin isn't completely smooth, there are slight bumps here and there from what I aforementioned above. I'm wondering if this is going to be a big problem or will I need to stock up on peroxide to clean up all the blood.

Thanked: 9If the bumps aren't too raized, the razor is well-honed (not feather-sharp) and your lather is nice and slick - THEN you may be OK with a very light touch, because the blade can catch and cut the hair but still slide over them
Now, I do realize there are many ifs, ands, and buts - but that's life
Good luck and keep us posted
Cheers

Just what Ivo said - you know your face best. However if you shave with a blade (as opposed to electric), I don't see how using a fully exposed blade can make a drastic difference.

Thanked: 0Well just to illustrate. Today before shaving, I spent 15 minutes in the sauna and then another 15 in a scalding hot shower(not purposely, it just always is). After that I used my newly acquired brush and soap to build up a nice lather on my face. Right now I'm shaving with a gillette fusion and even with all that, I still nicked myself on my neck with a disposable. (because of a bump)
That's ok, I'm ready for all kinds of carnage, I have my styptic pencil ready and all the time in the world in the mornings. Awaiting next week.

Nicking your neck is gonna happen. It's a funky area that's hard to get good angles for, whether you use a disposable or a straight. Give it a go, but take your time and be mindful of the terrain.
