Thanked: 124Head Shaving
I tried shaving my head twice so far with a straight. There have been threads about this before, but they didn't hgo into enough specifics.
Aside from the nicks which I assume will be worked out with experience, I have a hard time doing an even job because my head is round, so the blade only contacts it at one point. It doesn't look too bad, but when I feel it, there are spots that are baby-butt smooth and spots where I can feel quite a lot of stubble. These spots are in a mottled pattern. The smooth spots correspond to the exact center of the blade where it made perfect contact, the stubbly parts to the adjacent areas that made imperfect contact. 24 hours later, enough stubble has grown out that you can't tell the difference.
One thing I like about the straight is that it doesn't clog, but is it possible to do an even job? Am I on a fool's mission? Should I pick up a DE or a Headblade? I really hate to start buying those damn cartridges again. Is this the final triumph of stubbornness over common sense?
Thx in advance,
-Johnny

Thanked: 1587A bit of inventive stretching can help, as can turning your head left and right, and down. I tend to use a (slightly) steeper angle when I shave the type of areas you mention, particularly at the back of the head (I have a round-ish head too). I can get fairly close to BBS on all parts of the head with the one WTG pass, although rubbing my hand ATG feels a bit sandpapery, especially after a day. To get around this I just do my head every day - after a bit of practice it gets fairy quick (less than 10 minutes).
