Default need advice on making lather

I've been using Trumpers Rose Cream for a while now. I've seen several of the videos on making lather and the stuff I make looks really good. It's got a real tight, fine texture and "peaks" like whipped egg whites. It looks good and feels good.

But... I get a much better shave from the old Gillette Foamy (smoother, more comfortable). What am I doing wrong. Surely I didn't pay for all that shipping and fancy tub just for the smell?

I've tried adding a little more water, and I've tried using a little less. Anyone got any advice?

How much are you using? Most of the creams
it's suggested to use an almond size dollop. That's
about what I do. I then let my brush drip dry until
there is very little water left in it and stir in a
clockwise motion. As you stir you'll see it getting
creamier. Works good for me. Good luck.

That's about how much I've been using.

I get a real nice looking lather and it feels good between my fingers, but ...

I guess I'm looking for some voodoo to put on it or something.

Using the can cream really isn't as bad as everyone says, but they still say it.

Build your lather using just a touch more cream, and build your lather the same way you've been doing it. Add water after you build the cream up and get the peaks established. Before hand the cream can not support as much water.
