The Art of Shaving Atlanta....
I have been thinking about writing this for a while now. I decided to jump into straight shaving head first from using a certain orange and blue monstrosity made by gillette. One of the first things that I did was go into the art of shaving and get a set of their product that came with a badger brush, creme, pre-shave oil, and aftershave lotion. I was offered a complimentary shave and took them up on it a week later. It was a little rough to say the least. I think it has to do with a few things. Five minutes with a hot towel is not the same as five minutes with a hot towel after a shower. Also, the disposable blade straight that was used was a little aggressive. All in all I felt like the barber screamed through the shave and left me a little irritated in some places but not to worse for the wear. I love the products I got from them though and if I could do the shave over, I would be more vocal about how to shave certain patches of my "manscape" so I didn't get the afterburn. Anyone else have any experiences with them? I am not trying to talk bad about the company, like I said, I love the products (even if they are a little costly) and the service.

That's a pretty common story. I think getting a barber shave - especially for the first time - seems pretty hit or miss. Get a shave ready straight and learn to do it yourself!

I've never been to that place, but I went to this other middle-eastern barber guy, who put some lather on his hand and started applying it directly to my dry face as I sat down in the chair! I was like, "Woah, woah woah! You can't just dry shave a person with nothing but cream, buddy!" (I didn't use those words, but that was what I was implying.)
It ended up being a lousy shave, and he irritated and even broke the skin in a couple of spots. Worst of all, because he was very near to my work place, every time I passed him after that, I had to awkwardly nod hello or say something, even though I never wanted to have any association with him again. Heh.

I also had a near fatal shave from the AOS store in Dallas. The guy did some decent prep but the shave was less than spectacular. After he did one WTG pass with the straight he broke out the fusion and without relathering proceded to go ATG with tons of pressure. Now I get a shave from my barber who is at least 65 and it is fantastic. He does one pass WTG and its as smooth as can be. He also only charges 12 bucks
