It may just be the angle that you are using try A Light touch & a shallower angle & stretch the skin lightly as this can be overdone &cause problems with burn.
Also you might want to look at your prep , Try a pre shave oil or cream this will help with razor glide.
If you havent got it yet I would heartily recommend Lynns DVD as it was of great help to me & its great.Paul

    How is your stropping going?

This area of the shave is not difficult, but can lead to quick problems with a new edge if something is not going well.

Hard to say without knowing more details. Is this your first shave? Who honed it? Did you strop it? What angle are you holding the razor at? What part of your face are you shaving? Cheeks and neck are usually easier than upper lip and especially chin areas.

Don't get discouraged, especially if it's your first shave. My first shave with a straight, which was earlier this week, wasn't that great. It felt like it was tearing the hair out of my upper lip. Cheeks and neck were nice, but I had razor burn deluxe on my upper lip and chin. Today's shave was light years better, and it's only my 3rd shave. If you haven't already, I would highly recommend watching some str8 demo videos on YouTube and/or buying Lynn's DVD. Both have really helped me with my technique.

Three things as always are the culprit after you have a "Shave Ready Razor"

    1. Stropping: Fastest way there is to un-sharpen a shaving edge for a new shaver...
    2. Prep: Is a good thing!!!!
    3. Shaving angles: You just have to keep practicing we all did, they will come!!!!
As stated already in the posts above also....

Keep at it........ it is worth the learning curve!!!!
