IIRC Lynn recommends 30 degree angle. His video is very instructive and highly recommended.

I have Lynn's video and have been straight shaving for a few months now or at least long enough to have somewhere around 45 blades in various states of disrepair.

My improved honing skills are making my poor shaving technique more obvious.

Sounds like you're doing well actually. I wish all I'd had to worry about when I started was a bit of skin removal!

I went from doing a 3 pass shave to doing 2 pass shaves (WTG, XTG), and this cut down on irritation. It isn't quite as close as the 3 pass shave (which was pretty much BBS), but it also allows me to shave every day, which is always nice!

I also second the idea of reducing blade angle. 30 degrees is a recomendation, not a hard and fast rule. Experiment a bit and find out what works for you. I was shaving with too steep an angle for quite some time unknowingly. My shaves improved quite a bit after adjusting angle.
