That used to happen to me until I got a brush and some shaving cream. I scrub the lather in, let it soak, then apply some more and now my chin hairs stand up straight, wet, soft, and ready to do business. That's how it ought to be! Also, I cut lightly but firmly across the stretched skin at a slight angle. I still don't get it as clean as I like, but it's certainly a shave
