    Default NEW Thiers Issard Silverwing

Just received my TI Silverwing No 22 from Classic Shaving, ripped the box open and had a shave.

    WOW

Shiny as and a Brilliant shave. 10 out of 10

This new steel is something to behold I reckon.

I'd be interested to hear if others that have spent their hard earned $$ on one of these beauties have had the same experience.

Bugger it I just might go and shave again...........LOL

Take care thank you for allowing me to be part of this group.

Mine just came today. Can't wait to try it in the morning. It is a beautiful razor, and the grind appears near perfect.

    Jon, I agree with you.

I shaved this morning with my new Silverwing, bought from Classic (honed). I took it for 25 passes on a chromium oxide paddle, stropped it up, and got a GREAT shave, comparable to my Zowada.

I've read on the forums that some have found the Silverwing a close shaver, but a bit "rough". I disagree.

I found it to be a sharp, smooth, beautiful shaver, and the craftsmanship is excellent. The grind on the blade is near perfect, as are the pins and alignment.

This is really an excellent razor, and is definitely in the same league as the "customs" in this price range.

    Shavindave

Good to hear, I'm still rapped, like a kid with a new toy........hehehe

If there was 1 gripe, it would be the scale ends I like curves - rounded ends not angles that all the TI's have but hey I can live with that. its a personal thing

    take care

Depends on what you mean by "rough", and how your skin interprets the sensation. To me the silverwing feels kind of scratchy like stainless steel razors. I also get this sensation from O1 razors, my TI damascus, and my Livi Takeda. It seems to correlate with carbides, but I don't know if it's causation, correlation, or coincidence.

I find my silverwing has a very heavy feel to it. When I haven't used it for a while I find I always have to apply a tad more pressure to get it moving. Its a quality I don't care for. Otherwise it gives a super close and very comfortable shave.
