Default head shaving... big change for me..

Head shaving... One of my earliest purchases was the blade pictured below. It had that blackened look of old steel and some rust around the pin.

When I was still learning how to handle straight razors, I had to put this one away because I consistently filleted my scalp or drove the point deep into my cheeks.

I've been using my wapis and other similar-shaped blades for several months now and none of them quite worked on my head. The shave was never close enough and I still managed to carve out a chunk of flesh here and there.

On a whim last week, I pulled this one out of the cigar box and I shaved with it. Right off, I noticed that I could handle the sucker just fine and it gave my head a BBS shave without removing the skin in long strips.

So... I took it apart, spent a bit of time cleaning it up, polishing, and then I repinned it back into its original scales (had to clean 'em again).

    Thanks!!

I guess they are brass, heh.. I bought a pack of dovo pins from Classic Shaving quite a while back. I'm getting better at it too.. the cutting wheel on my Dremmel sure comes in handy for that.
