Question A Smooth Shave Leaves Raw Skin

I recently bought an 11/16 J.A. Henckels Wedge #12 from the the SRP forums. It shaves amazingly well; sliding smooth without a hint of catching and leaves a very smooth shave. However, after using it my skin feels very raw. This doesn't happen with an of my other razors.

A smooth shave is great, but leaving my face feeling wind burned is a high price to pay. Any advice for what I can do better? Do I just need a lighter touch? Is this a question of technique, or just finding the right aftershave lotion (I'm using almond oil)?

Thanks in advance for the help,
    Zack

Is this yer only wedge grind blade or is the yer grind of choice, that would be my first question...
If yer a wedge user then try either a Cr pasted strop, a newspaper strop, or perhaps just try bring yer daily strop count up into at least the 50's that will smooth out the shave some....
    Hope that helps!!!

This isn't my only wedge grind. I'm still a new straight razor user and I have been trying out the different options. I have only shaved with this razor twice and I haven't stropped it yet. I will give it 50 before my next shave. Thanks for the advice.

Yea, that should help. If its a true wedge it might benefit from laying the strop on a hard surface. If its fresh off the hone and never been stropped I'd strop it about 100 passes first, then 50 or so until its smoothed.
