Default Mowing the lawn (whacking the beard)

Well, I did it. After having a beard for 20 years, I cut it this weekend. I am still not bare faced, just cut it down to a nice goatee. It actually makes shaving easier, no trim lines to work around. It makes using a big 7/8-8/8 razor much easier. I used my new Wacker 7/8 to mow down the beard. I was staying in a cabin and had no clippers so the Wacker cut it all down to skin. It took a toll on the edge, I had to slide it over a stone when I got home. Luckily I travel with two razors so I stropped my second blade and shaved the stubble left from the bushhogging. It is different. My cheeks have not felt the sun for a long time so it is a different sensation. The skin is a little sensitive right now, but what do you expect. It has not been shaved since I was 18, I am 38 now.

The wife likes it, makes me look younger, she says. The dog did not bite me when I got home she he must still recognize me. The kids are at camp so it will be interesting to see what they say when I pick them up.

How old are your kids? When my dad shaved his beard totally off several years ago, the dog didn't much like it and my baby brother cried

Exclamation I know it's an odd request in this case

Do you have a before pic and would you be willing to take an after pic and post them (old one first)? I'm assuming in 20 years of having a beard, someone snapped a picture of you... Anyway, your post about the kids being shocked made me wonder how shocking it would be for me if my dad shaved his full beard to a goatee, so I would like to get a feel for the shock effect...

In a couple of months, you should shave the goatee just to see the reactions...

Lightbulb you could make a whole album of progression

Jockeys told me at one point that he likes to wear a different pattern of facial hair every 2-4 weeks. Some of the ones he described were pretty clever and, I'd imagine, shocking to people who are used to seeing a different one. Come to think of it, 3 weeks is just enough time for your co-workers to get used to your new look... and then you switch it up on them... the shock never ends. Will, you're a sadist. Maybe he could post an album of different beards. How about it jockeys? What about you, cannon?

Brings up an interesting question on my part, when shaving off a beard is the straight the only razor that can do this effectively? I can not imagine trying to shave off a beard with an electric, multi blade or a double edge.

I took a brand new fusion blade through a full beard... it took me 45 minutes to shave smooth and the cartridge was trash when I was done. I don't recommend it at all.
