Thanked: 1First shave!
So I finally shaved with the straight today, and I'm quite pleased with how well it went. I cut myself maybe half a dozen times, but most of those cuts had stopped bleeding by themselves before I was done with teh shave. Only two needed toilet paper afterwards.
Anyhow, I managed to get my sideburns and cheeks smooth, but I had a little trouble going against the grain on my chin and parts of my neck, mostly because I'm still getting a handle (no pun intended) on how to hold the razor, so I had to finish off the chin and neck with my old Fusion.
Other than that, it went great! It feels great to be part of te ranks of the straight razor shavers!

Congrats and welcome to the MAJORS...haha...just a pun on your name. Now really, take it slow and give yourself time to get the strokes down and to overall give yourself the feeling of the blade on your face. Slow is always better , especially when starting out. It also lets you consentrate on what your doing keeping you focused. Other then that, just don't get over confident thinking "you got this down now". ENJOY.

Congradulations!
+1 on others comments.
Sounds like you might want to pick up a Styptic pencil if you haven't already.
That will stop the bleeding a lot better tan TP.

Wow! You have done very well for the first time. I did not even attempt ATG for a couple of months. Just did not feel good for me. Congratulations on great progress and a great shave!!!
