Thanked: 2And so it begins...
My first straight shave. I have a Dovo Bismarck 6/8, that was honed by Lynn, through classic shaving dot com. I did the normal prep, used plenty of T&H Pre Shave Oil, one hot towel, T&H Rose cream, one hot towel, reapplied rose and then proceeded. Did 2 WTG, one S/N (ATG?), then touched up with my DE. Finished with a cold towel, alum block, PFB Vanish, T&H 1805 Balm. That was 30 minutes ago. I was initially a little red on the neck, but that is calming down nicely. It was way strange. I was not relaxed while shaving, but now that it is over I'm like, ah. My cheeks are the smoothest I've ever felt them. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the results, and have everyone here and at CS and especially the Lynn DVD to thank for all of this. I'm not totally new to wet shaving since I've been using a DE Futur for about a year and a half. I just had to jump up and down on here because I've got two little ones sleeping and don't feel like having them wake up!

It only gets better from here!! SSSHHHH! You'll wake up the kids!
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Sounds like you had a great run. Personally, I would suggest not cleaning up with a DE unless you really need to be clean-shaven for something; you'll have more incentive to learn faster if you stick to just the straight.
Some would make the opposite recommendation, but going cold turkey worked for me, so that's what I'd advise.
