Thanked: 0Best shave so far!
Greetings from Sweden!
Tonight i had my best shave so far, and the recent for it! a microskope...i have been shaving with straight razors for a couple of months now, but never had a real good shave. I´m using a norton 600-800 grid stone, 12 000 grid japanese stone and 2 different strops. But tonight i used a microskope as a help when a honed my razors, and i noticed that when the razors were keen i saw a yellow/orange light above the egde of the razor, my microskope was set on 200. Is this something that you guys has some knowledge about? Never the less! for the first time a had no cuts in my face and no razor burns, i will go to bed satisfied tonight.
I apologiza if the spelling is not correct//waelli2

No problem about the spelling, you got your point across <g>
Congrats on the close shave. It's a good feeling.
What model/brand of microscope are you using?
I've been somewhat interested in microscopes, since I'm restoring more blades these days, and trying to see what sharpness I can achieve, and with what.

Thanked: 0Brand
Hi!
The brand of the microskope is a LUNAX that i bought for 14 dollars of a swedish website like ebay, thats really cheap! the microskope has 4 differents settings (50, 100, 200 and 300). I have just checked a another razor that´s not keen and there is no yellow/orange light above the egde at all. I really dont think its rust but i have noticed that when the light appear, it´s a good indication for me that the razor is starting to get keen. I have honed so far 2 razors with this method with good results, i´m using of course "the hanging hair test" and "the thumbnail test" at the same time.
