Thanked: 0Third times a charm?
So I received my Dovo and stop from Classic and after stropping jumped right in for the first shave. It scared the S__t out of me! It came out fairly well but I knew I had a long way to go.
Next day, more stropping and it was worse than the first! Struggled with technique and was not happy with the results.
3rd day, M3. Boring shave but quick and safe. Bay rum, shaving mug and brush stand arrived from classic.
4th day; stropped and then had much better success with building a creamier lather. Best shave so far but I am not sure why. I did fine tune the angle which felt more effective and the lather was an improvement, also have stropped the blade 4 days in a row now so it's possible that the edge is just getting a better polish.
However, I can't seem to get comfortable with the XTG stroke seems like my hand is in the way when I do my left side too so I can't view it as well. I would welcome any input on my results thus far. Definitely loving this and the Bay Rum is great!

First off you need to realize learning to use a straight should be a gradual learning experience. I would never recommend even using any xtg strokes until you have a couple weeks of shaves under your belt, and that's if you seem to be learning fast. You need to take it slow and once you master one stroke then move on to another area of your face and then on on different strokes. Some strokes like xtg are considered advanced.

Hold off on the XTG strokes until you get more familiar with maintaining the proper blade angle and light pressure. Don't rush it...
