    Question Blade Buffing

I tried a version of blade buffing and it worked well for hard to get areas. By buffing, I mean a repetitive small stroke several times over the same small area. Is this a good idea or will it lead to irritation? It worked relatively well for me.

You'll be all right, as long as you don't press hard. - otherwise, your skin will probably become irritated.

It's really amazing how long it takes a lot of guys, me included, to learn that little, simple lesson.

Good luck, and light, light, light... passes

    Regards,

    Steve

"Buffing"as they call it is a Straight razor technique thats been reinvented for DE shavers and so you are not wrong to try it.

I would like to define "buffing" as going back and forth a couple of times on a small area, without lifting the blade off the skin. During the back motion, the lather is smeared on the covered area again, allowing for the next forth motion.

For me, it's something that developed sort of naturally during my ATG pass. I think it's better than doing multiple "lift-and-shave" strokes over the same area, which is more prone to cause irritation than a bit of light buffing.
