Thanked: 1Extreme fast 2-pass shaving
Have you seen this ?
YouTube - Rasiermesser Rasur
Is it possible because of extremely sharp straight razor ?
BTW, i always have to use second pass ATG because this is the only way to shave precisely without any stubble (i still shave with multiblade razor, before my straight razor gets honed by a friend).

It was linked, people talked. The person in the video came and said "Sup?" People talked some more, hugged and parted ways. Something along those lines.
All I can really say is that your razor should always be sharp. And if you train for it you can do that too given time.

I've marvelled at that video since I saw someone else post it here a few days ago. That razor looks to be very sharp, yes. No matter how sharp your blade is, though, you'd likely find that to be an uncomfortable style of shaving. The very long strokes are going to cut a lot of the hairs, but because one enormous stroke requires a pulling action, a lot of the hairs are going to pull too. My upper lip and chin stings just thinking about that clip and the sound of his shaving --- just like someone dragging their nail through a full deck of taught playing cards. Images of bulldozers plowing through wooded areas also come to mind. *Snap-sn-snap-snap-snap!* But what do I know, I drink and shave.
Awesome video, though. I really like that shot of him going around the mouth and down onto the chin.

He also didn't strop the razor as it is advised (precisely and slowly).
It seems he didn't get any razor burn although i see he cut himself on his chin. It's also debated of using alcohol-based aftershave lotion. I noticed it's good as the skin gets disinfected and i don't get so many pimples after the shave.

Is the noise more a result of the blade and type of hair you have? My total experience with conventional straights now is 3 shaves with 3 different blades... but my shaves sound very much like the video. I have very coarse hair and rather tough skin. I use a shave cream without lather so that may have some effect (I do shave immediately out of the shower). All the shaves were quite comfortable with no cuts or irritation afterwards but I do have to use some muscle even WTG. XTG is about the same and for the ATG (neck only. can't do it at all on the cheeks) I sort of have to get a running start or the blade(s) just stick and won't move.
Bergischer Lowe: VERY noisy and I can feel the flex of the blade on my face. I can imagine that if you watched it through a microscope you would also see the blade flexing/vibrating after going through each hair. This is WTG.
Ivory Micarta: Noisy but less so than the Bergischer. Blade feels stiffer (I think I like that) but it still "feels" very thin. I would guess this to be about the same as the video for the noise.
Tru-Edge spike (thanks Cannonfodder): Less noisy but there's still a good bit of sound. This blade feels the most "solid" of the three although close to the Micarta.
I'd say that the Bergischer blade feels significantly thinner than the other two. I believe all three are about the same sharpness (the Bergischer might be just a bit less sharp and I noticed it was honed with a double edge). I'm going to have to try a wedge and something less than a full hollow in the future.

Yeah, a lot of the shaving noise from that video was likely due to coarse hair and the grind of the razor.

That happens because you are using a straight razor and exfoliating the skin as well as depilating the whiskers, not because you are using an alcohol aftershave. Try it without alcohol and you'll still notice a benefit. In fact, it can be argued that alcohol will dry your skin more and cause excess oil production leading to more acne, not less.

Well, this also happened when i was shaving with multi-blade razor such as Mach 3 for example. With Mach 3, when i didn't use alcohol i really got more pimples especially those white ones filled with pus. That happens because you are using a straight razor and exfoliating the skin as well as depilating the whiskers, not because you are using an alcohol aftershave.
When it comes to drying the skin with the use of alcohol-based aftershave i noticed that some of them contained some oil or something similar. When i poured some of it on the table and let it dry, it turned out that it left greasy "pools" on the table surface (maybe these were preservatives)
However i agree most of after-shave lotions dry the skin. I know some people use "double aftershave" which means they rub alcohol lotion first and when it dry, they put another one but without alcohol.

nice cut to the chin.. i wonder how he got that??? lol
Personally, I wouldnt follow this but I cant go against what he is doing totally as I am also guilty of longer than normal strokes when im in a hurry.

Actually, this video is funny in one part...
At 1:55, he looks in the mirror for a minute as if considering what to do next and then:
"Ahh screw it, I am going straight to the against the grain pass"
I guess I would too if I had the face of steel this guy has got.
