    First, thanks to all who helped. Next, I dropped the angle so that the blade was almost parallel to my face and the razor burn went away! Still not quite as close as the wedges on the first pass, but I'm assuming that is a technique issue that I can work on.

    You are right about that. I have placed my mock3 in permanant retirement. I do have favorites but they vary by shave. I do like a certain wedge I have as well as a full hollow. But to me it is a mood thing...

    Hitting the +1 button on that. I have a lot of razors 'cause I had RAD and I needed a bunch to learn how to hone. I look at the pile in the morning and shave with the one that calls to me depending on my mood. Might be a full hollow, might be a wedge or a half hollow. Usually one that I am working on trying out a hone/razor combo.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    This is what I do too. I kind of peruse the selection, coffee cup in hand, until one grabs me. Today it was a Fenney Tally-Ho wedge by the way.
