    Talking I love shaving.

So here I am, been cut throat shaving for a little over a month now. I have read that the first month is make or break, I can see that. This is not one of the easiest things in the world, certainly not the hardest thing either; it's shaving, men have been doing it since time began.
I have found that there is a certain naturality to the feel of the razor in my hand, the blade upon my cheek, the whisper of the beard leaving my face. I have taken to this archaic form of grooming like a fish takes to water. I guess that is why it is called wet shaving.
Just kidding. Seriously though, today we were out and about doing some messing around, went to the Garden of the Gods state park in Illinois, which I highly recommend, lots of hiking and playing around was done today. Ruth was plum wore out when we got home, I however was not. She drew herself a bath and had some relax time...I decided to shave.

I put a pot on to boil in the kitchen, back in the shave cave I took 'Old Red' for a few laps on the barbers hone, then I hit the leather. I lost myself in the leather this evening, back and forth listening to the gentle swoosh...I lost count. It was well over 50, 60, likely more than 75 laps on the leather, but 'Red' was just getting warmed up. Off to the kitchen to retrieve my boiling water from the stove. Back in the shave cave i poured some of my hot water into the bowl holding my hot soak towel. The rest into the sink. Whipped up some lather and onto the face it went Followed by a piping hot towel. After the hotsoak I cleaned off my face for a fresh canvas upon which I painted a masterpiece in lather. The shave that followed was sincerely fantastic. With the grain the blade whispered, then across, and finally against. All done I rinsed and dried. Applied my mix of Glycerin,Vit.E oil, and Aftershave...

Amazing shave. Completely relaxed. Thanks for the support and teachings. Yall are great.

Thats great, I had a similar experience today when i had my first shave with my new Wapi. It was like a dream and makes me think that those who don't know just don't know. I've been at it for about three months now and its true about the first month, but when it comes together its totally worth it!

Thanks X. I Rather enjoy a good plan myself. Sometimes it's difficult with all the bullets flying and the explosions. But . . . . .

That's awesome! It's amazing how something we all used to dread doing is now often the most relaxing (and sometimes best) part of the day!

Make sure you post this in the SOTD thread to preserv for posterity!

Isn't that the truth! I used to think that shaving was God's curse on man for letting Eve talk him into taking a bite of that apple. I despised shaving. Now, at the ripe old age of 52, I can't wait to see if I can improve on yesterday's wonderful shave.
