    Default Good news....bad news....

    good news....bad news....

Good news...the razor that I feared might not have gooten quite the hone-job I was expecting shaves just fine after a few shave/strop cycles. It is probably my best shaver...leading to:
More Good news: With 48 hours growth, for the 2nd time in a row, I got my best yet straight razor shave. Not quite BBS yet...but we're getting there. I am getting quite comfortable with that blade in my hand...leading to:
Bad news: My two worst cuts yet. Upper left lip and upper right cheek. Both were 100% because I didn't respect the blade an got sloppy/lazy. The lip cut was actually caused by inattention that was caused by me thinking up words of an "ode to the straight razor" after the upper right cheek's cut let go of it's drop of blood....

Crimson droplet runs through Castle Forbes
Llime namesake not house of scottish lord,
Innatention lets vorpal blade dig in
Not snicker snack, though still unkind to skin

A bit more care perhaps hereafter due
Remember skills, though fine...are still quite new
The keenest edge one's frend and still one's foe
Ought not this ritual best be served up slow?

Lather , water, blade meet o'er the skin
    Stretched and held for

...damnit... now my lip is bleeding. Those styptic pencils really stop bleeding really well, huh?

    Or a simpler version...

    Roses are red
    Violets are blue
    Pay attention to your razor
or it's sure to cut you!

To an extent. Then there's super glue but if you're not careful with that you won't be doing any more odes for a while.

LOL. Well, I hope not to test the extent to which styptic works. I'll try to not bleed worse than today.
