Everybodies different when it comes to hair and skin type/texture.So whether you stretch , contort or leave it be depends on you. For me I find that stretching gives me the shoothest shave but also causes the most irritation when using alcahol based aftershave.

Thanked: 1212I guess it makes a big difference what shape your face is and how tight the skin. I can't imagine Keith Richards, who, of course, shaves with a straight when he can't immediately find a broken whisky bottle, not stretching his skin properly. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, never stretches.
Nah, I bet he's M3 guy anyway.

Unfortunately we can't change some of the rules: The older you get the more you need to stretch

So far, despite my advanced age, my skin is pretty tight. I do not feel the need for stretching the face yet. Sometimes I do a bit of stretching of my neck. I would imagine that will change at some point. ;-). I do not think that stretching is a requirement for good shaving, it seems more like a matter of preference or the result of individual face characteristics.

Thanked: 4942I'm doing more stretching now than in 1973 when I started........
Actually I do more chin lifting and face contortions, although I do lift the skin at the sideburn to get the jawline better and pull the skin to the side on the neck for the crazy growth.

Thanked: 6im a noob, so still learning, but stretching my skin has helped me get a better shave than i have so far, but im still learning technique and the way my hair grows.
on my cheeks i've found that if i blow them up like a puffer fish it gives me a decent tension to shave on them, but yeah, i look a bit stupid
