Thanked: 27Your blade is not sharp enough. If your blade is truly sharp, then you can shave with very little pressure, and you won't have to skin yourself. What you are doing is just as PuFFaH says, compensating for the lack of extreme sharpness by using more pressure.
That said, while one good pass can already give you a very nice shave, a 2nd ATG pass would shave even closer. Always. But in some areas you can just use ATG as your first pass and that finishes the shave.

It's the second pass that make shaving for me lol. My most enjoyable pass! Really enjoy the feeling of the badger brush with after the first pass!

I have to wonder how well the bevel is set, and then beard prep and technique.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

My thoughts fall right in line with Puffah's post above. Your razor is not quite sharp enough, and your technique needs a little refining.
The hard ceramic and diamond-polished surface of the Spyderco does not surprise me that you're not seeing a large amount of swarf. You want that stone to polish more that cut anyway.
