    Default I did it...

    Hello, gentlemen...
A few days ago, I got an Anton Wingen jun SOLINGEN, Othello razor... It has a false ivory (bakelite) scales with some silver? on top... The blade is 6/8", full hollow with slightly rounded spike tip... There was almost no hone wear on the spine... So, I took it to 1k and did arround 40 laps... Then I went to 3k for arround 100 laps... Then I went to a 6k and did arround 200 laps... It felt very sharp (thumb pad), but it didn't cut any hair from my arm... So I did about 3 aggresive pyramids and 5 conservative pyramids, and then I took the razor to pasted strop (CrOx) and did some 150 laps and 300 laps on leather side...
Then I did a test shave and it felt quite nice, but it wasn't quite there yet... Maybe I was expecting wrong things, because I shaved with shavette for 3 months now...
So I did arround 70 laps more on CrOx and 150 laps on leather and today we'll see how it will shave...
I'm very excited, because I managed to hone a razor from scratch thanks to SRP...

    Default honing

at first congratulations on your success.if you want to learn you need to try first.then everything will fall in place.
    Now about your honing problems.
there is differences between japan and usa grits i would like to know which one are you talking ?
second you get out from 6 k to chr02 mistake .if you have all the time in the world that is different but people usually never jump from 6k(doesn't matterjapan or usa grit).your laps are
    40+100+200+150+300+70+150=1010 laps
    does this mean anything?
you are getting out from 6k -----chr02
now you need to have some 8k or blegian coticle in empty spot and your laps will go way down.lets count
    40in 1000then you 40 3k then 50 6k then50 belgian +20 chro02=200 total and your blade ready.
hope this help.i didn't mean to hurt your feeling but this is the way good luck keep good work the day will come you will be honemaster.

    Thanks... You haven't hurt anything...
My stones are japanese, so I think that the grit units are japanese also...
I know that there's a gap between 6k and CrOx, so I will soon (after january, 15th) buy 2 more hones, Spyderco fine (approx 8k) and ultrafine (approx 13K)... That's all I can afford for now, since I have a student's budget... They are a bit small, but I'll manage that... Or, I could even consider to find some vintage belgian yellow...
We'll see how it will work...
