Thanked: 3Problem With Making Skin Taught
When I go to shave, I use my hands to try to stretch the skin. It works to some degree but a lot of times my hand slips because my hand and face are wet. Is there some sort of tool or product out there that can make my skin taught without slipping?
Thanks

I shave after the shower, so wet hands are inevitable, try wiping your non shaving hand on the towel once in a while, lets say every couple of strokes, or whatever it takes.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

The way I am set up there is a towel hanging to the left of me where I shave. I will hold my stretching hand above , below, off to the side of where the stroke is going. If I get cream on my stretching hand I reach to my left and wipe it off. As you practice shaving you will find what works for you.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Yes, the towel.
I shave immediately after shower as well, having already stropped my razor and lathered. So I have a towel wrapped around and can wipe my hand dry with a quick swipe on the towel before I stretch - I get plenty of friction against my skin for yanking and stretching that way. ...It probably goes without saying that I only attempt to stretch the parts of my face that are free of latherFind me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Thanked: 369In addition to all the tried and true methods above, instead of using finger tips - sometimes the side of a finger or thumb works, and is less prone to be covered with soap/ water. You can also use a small dry cloth wrapped around a couple of fingers to pull the skin taught if the area is especially slippery.

Thanked: 155I also shave after a shower. My approach is as follows:
1) dry your hands very well following your shower.
2) Apply lather using a brush, if you are careful, you can keep the soap off of your hands. This is essential.
3) When stretching, touch only parts of your face that have either a) not been lathered or b) have already been shaved. I find that a proper shaving stroke pretty much removes all lather, water, oil etc leaving the skin quite dry, at least for a few minutes until the natural oils return.

Thanked: 9I find that just wiping the area I want to pull with the palm of my hand, followed by rinsing the soap off of my hand (with maybe a repeat wipe) makes the skin "grippy" enough to not need me to dry my hands to stretch the skin.
