Default Strop on Ebay - Advice?

Anyone know if this is a good deal? Sounds very cheap since Dovo charge 30Euro for theirs? Also, whats the point in the canvas side?

    Thanks

The canvas or linen side it used before you use the leather side as a sort of rougher adjustment to the fin.
As for the strop I can't tell you anything since I am a newbie myself

Just based on the price, I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole.

I think it would make a great practice strop for someone starting out. At that price you don't have to worry about damaging it. As a serious strop though I would look elsewhere.

As above. Although i can't say for sure, it probably is poor quality. I certainly wouldn't want to risk a decent blade on it.

It has no name and is far too cheap.

I kept my eyes open and found a used horse hide strop on ebay. Keep your eyes open and wait if you can. Try to find a good used strop as a starter. Thats what I did and am very pleased

I've seen one of these "Barber" strops at the flea market. Leather was not consistent in thickness. Actually I looked at several of them, they were consistent by not being the same thickness.

its like a wanabe leather, kind of a pleather, which is a cheap imitation type leather. it wont last long and may even damage the blade. go with tony miller strops...they are like a no brainer choice, he also includes a practice strop for 7 bucks, try this link.......The Well Shaved Gentleman The Heirloom Razor Strop Company : Home
