Thanked: 3I don't think there is a title for this question
Is there any way to get the neat clean beard lines you get from a straight razor with a cartridge razor like Gillette Fusion?
Thanks

You mean edging your facial hair with a straight razor? I find it hard sometimes but now that I have a couple of razors with points other than round, it has been somewhat simplified. I find my spike points to be the best for edging my goatee but sometimes, I use the Mach3 to edge it right. Oh no, heresy..... ;-).
Al raz.

in one word, no. I tried with a double edge and it didn't give good results either. Prior to my using the straight I used an electric clipper to obtain that clean line of demarcation.

The Fusion, with its 6th () trimming blade, actually does
a pretty good job at this. I would say it's better than a DE, but
obviously not quite the same as a straight.

Thanked: 13245WOOOOOHoooooo a question in the "Shaving" forum that I am actually qualified to answer
Sorry I just hardly ever get to answer questions in this forum.... As someone who started using a straight razor for that reason, I would say NO if you want straight lines use a straight edge....
If a disposable has a single blade on it someplace they can work in a pinch, but they are nowhere near as exact as a straight edge that you can see precisely what you are doing right down to clipping a single errant hair....

I actually had a hard time for about a week getting a "straight" line from a straight razor.
I was calling myself all sorts of silly names but it's the gosh-darned truth. The DE was at first easier and quicker to get a "straight" line from just from sheer familiarity.
That is for the top of my neck (bottom of beard) and where my cheeks meet the top of the beard.
Now if by "straight" you mean "detailed"...then the area under my lower lip was always a pain in the butt. I'd hit it maybe once a week with the DE. With a straight it's actually part of the enjoyment. Learn how to twist your face into the right shape and it's easy-peasy.
I see no reason why the fusion with it's 6th trimming blade wouldn't be nice in this situation. Not used it personally though.

I personally use the Fusion razor as my secondary razor (until my 2nd straight comes in!), and LOVE the 6th blade on the back...it's perfect under the nose, which some find hard to hit with a straight.

My problem with the fusion is that it clogs up really easy.
After just one shave there will be a lot of hairs that clogs up the no6 blade (and the others)

If you are having trouble with getting the straight edge on you goatee and side burns wait to streatch until after you have placed your blade. Becareful not to let the blade slice. As you streatch keep the blade in the same place on your skin, moving the blade with the skin!!! Once streached shave as normal and you will have a straight edge!
This is the tech that I use and it always gives me a perfect straight line!
