    Default The defenition of luck!

I honed up a razor before shaving today, this is the first razor I bought and its very dear to me.Its extremly hollow ground, I guess what you would call a singing razor. When I started straight shaving, I actually dinged this razor in my sink, living a large chip out. That was my first honing prosject.
Anyways, it gave a superb shave today. But while finishing my second pass, I turned to do some stropping. Some how it slipped from my hand, and fell right on the tiles! I actually considered for a fraction of a sec. to put my foot out, sadly it doesn't grow back, so I had to let it fall.I heard a loud PING! And I tought that the razor was toast........
Upon closer inspection I was amazed to the lack of damage! I picked up my jewlers loop and when using 30x, I couldn't see one singel micro chip!!! I just could not believe it! After a few soothing words to the razor and some laps on the strop, I finished my shave.
    I am bullet proof today!!

Sometimes the gods just smile upon you. I recently did the same with a 7/8 friodur. No damage either when i expected a complete shatter!

That is fortunate. Back when I collected razors but didn't shave with them I scored a set of two ivory scaled Rodgers wedges on ebay. I was in the kitchen handling one of them and it slipped from my fingers, hit the floor, and shattered at the pivot. The beautiful ivory scales were ruined on that one.

The best definition of luck that I have seen is attributed to Seneca,"When preparation meets opportunity."
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

There must be spots on the Sun because I did exactly the same thing tonight. Luckily, both me and the razor have survived unscathed. There is a difference between a light pressure on strop and a light grip.

Glad to hear you still have a foot. Out of instinct to catch it I probably would have stuck out my foot and lost a toe On both drops glad to hear your razors are ok well all except the Ivory scales (ouch)
