    Default Temporarily Back to Cartridge

I've been shaving with a straight for about 4.5 months now and my razor finally got to the point where it needed to be honed. I have not purchased a hone yet--although I plan on getting a Norton 4K/8K in the near future--so I sent my razor off to Lynn. Since it is the only straight I have so far I've had to revert back to a Gillette Fusion for the past week. It has been a nice reminder of just how much of a better shave I get with a straight and reinforces what expensive pieces of crap cartridges are.

Not only is the shave with the straight better but it also drastically reduces the number of ingrown hairs for me. I have sensitive skin that is prone to them and cartridges can be murder on my neck, which I was painfully reminded of this past week. Another observation I had is that shaving with a brush and soap/cream will instantly upgrade any wet shave, even one with a cartridge. I am so flippin' thankful that I've been introduced to these far superior methods of shaving! Not only are they better but they make shaving enjoyable rather than a chore!

It really goes to show you how slick marketing can overtake a superior product.

Well I actually just bought a vintage straight off of ebay; however, it's not shave ready

I'm going to use it to practice honing b/c I would rather mess that up instead of my brand new Dovo. So in theory I should not run into this problem again

Why not treat yourself to a wapi as a second till your vintage is honed up? Cheap as chips and so awesome. Fingers crossed for the giveaway

And soon you'll be collecting hones as well.

DE razors are good too, if you need to use something while a straight is out being honed. I have a bunch of DEs and I am proud to know that when I do send me straights out to be honed I can still get old fashioned BBS shaves with those.

I will never invest my hard earned money into the post-modern Gillette corporate machine ever again.

I have got a few left but as I tell everyone who mails me with questions: these are not 1st choice for beginners but rather for experienced honers who like to have the right hone for every razor. And of course to satisfy your HAD.
