Thanked: 1I've finally mastered straight razor shaving
After a few months of training now I can shave my whole face with my straight and have a feeling of "baby's butt". I was really frustrated and giving up at the beginning. Now I really can't imagine shaving with any other tool. The shave usually takes me 10..15 minutes which is quite long but it's comfortable.
Usually i shaved in the evenings (as I don't have to hurry) but recently i do it also in the morning.
There are two difficult spots on the face that need some more effort to shave them precisely but I found some techniques that help a lot. I have a goatee which makes shave more difficult but i no longer have problems with it. I also learned how to hone my razor. When it comes to stropping i give the razor 50 strokes and it seems to work well. The funny thing is i get less irritations than when i shaved with Mach 3 or Wilkinson mutltiblades. I do love to put alcohol based aftershave on the face because i don't get any pimples the following day (when i don't do that i get some pus filled ones). When the face is dry, i put aftershave non-alcohol balm. It works very well.

Its great isnt it! When you master the old time techniques and find yourself a little less tied to the modern gadgetry and can do it better than the modern technology. A great sense of satisfaction, keep going it only gets better!

Congratulations! 10 - 15's not bad. How quick do you want it to be? Thanks for the tip on the alchohol. I've always avoided it, but i do get a few ingrowns now & again & it may eliminate them. Worth a try.
