Ouch, why would you want to shave a dry face? The whole point of shaving with a straight is to enjoy the shave. Try it at your own risk, honestly there is only one way to find out. Who knows, maybe you can pull it off. As for the dude in the video, what the heck was he doing to that poor razor? I think my edge would have rolled completely after all that jazz. His chrome ox and paste stropping was fairly useless. I must say it was very entertaining though. It looked like he was shaving his cheek at a 75 degree angle.??

    Default Shaving dry face...

This is not recommended. Several reasons:

1.) Depending on beard thickness, your beard/whiskers will have consistency pretty close to that of a thin copper wire. You could compromise fine cutting edge of a finely honed razor. The point of preparation is to prevent this.

2.) You are risking razor burn

3.) You are exposing yourself to a greater risk of cutting yourself.

I have only occasionally 'touched up' my shaves after the job was done and can vouch for discomfort. I have even nicked myself a few times.

Wet shaving method (or rather one's variation thereof) is there for a reason. In my humble opinion, it would be a good idea to use it whenever possible.

    Dry shaving is rather painful.

I just realized that video is Mastro Livi. I thought he was some sort of flake posting a video. Wow, I guess as long as the razor is safe and sharp, flipping it over on the edge and slapping it down works for him.
