The last time I travelled .I took a rescaled wapi & dovo canvas backed strop, Ingram shave cream&proraso after shave milk But this was also backed up with a focus blade razor ,Which didnt get used at all. The wapi held up fine for the week. The shaving brush I took with me was a synthetic one I got from Boots here in the U.K.
I enjoyed the shaves so much I will be sure to take more or less the same set up next time.
I hung the strop up in the wardrobe out of sight from anyone ,but also to keep it away form the moist atmosphere of the bathroom.
    Cheers .Paul

That's interesting, because the shop you mention used to be a Truefit and Hill, and is apparently closed. The only AOS store I've seen is in the Palazzo. By no means is my footwork totally conclusive. AOS is sold in many fine cosmetics stores and counters, but I had my face delightfully shaved by the Master barber in the Palazzo one day after work.
Stop by the St. Mark's Square some night in the Venetian Grand Canal Shoppes. You might catch me playing there.

I just got back from Vegas not too long ago and had this same conversation. AOS is still in the same spot I think, but the store sign just says Apothecary. T&H was located in Caesar's Palace but moved as their lease was up. They are located in the Mirage now. Here's the Vegas thread, starting from when I revived it thinking that T&H was closed:

I was really looking forward to visiting T&H and was bummed when I thought they had closed for good. Not much better finding out that they just moved after I got back from vacation.

I just bought a bridle leather belt from Filson, and I used it for just this purpose when I was traveling to Houston. I just looped it around the towel rack, put the end through the buckle, drew it tight, and stropped to my heart's content. I had a great shave from it, and it actually worked better than the (admittedly pretty lousy) strop I have hanging in the bathroom.

I really need to buy a better strop.

I would recomend a small S hook and when it's time to shave you can hang your strop on a towel rack. As for transport, it is best if your strop can lay flat in a suit case as opposed to being bent into any shape.

So, do you think the travel strops dont really bring much to the mix? I have seen the TI versions and they seem like a good idea, but seeing no comment here, I'm guessing no one sees much benefit from the added expense. Anyone have experience with the TI travel versions...or any other "travel" strop?

Jim I just travel with a small rindleder strop I got from classic. It will pack in a bag nicely and has linen and leather. It is a small strop so it travels well and it works very well. It is not what some would call a travel strop but it works for me. The last trip I took was for 2 weeks with work and I took the 3" latigo, that is not something I will do again. I drove the whole trip (from OK to West Virginia) so I was able to hang my strop on a hook in the pickup but it was still a pain to lug around. If something was to happen to the rindleder strop on a trip I wouldn't be out much so its nice to take.

This might not help much but I hope it helps some

Yes, I say that with the idea that I have been successful in doing so. I've actually carried on my DE many times, think it really depends upon the airport and the TSA scrutiny level.

Wow, thanks a lot, I am currently in Vegas right now, and I went to the forum shops at Caesar's and I was so angry to find out that they were closed. On vegas's website and on truefitt and hill's site it says that it is still in the Forum Shops. Now at least I can still go visit before I have to fly home on Saturday.
