    Default 4/8 razors

Does anyone use a 4/8 razor? What do you think of it compared to other sizes? I just got a 4/8 Puma on ebay I had thought it was a 5/8 when I bid haven't tried it yet. Curious what others think.

I had a 3/8 Puma once that was as good a shaver as any. I have some other brand 4/8ths and they are fine shavers as well. I still prefer somewhat larger blades though. Lynn

I agree on both points this 4/8 Puma is a great shaver although I think I like the 7/8's better. I will continue to experiment. Does Puma make a 7/8?

I have a new Puma 7/8 spike that I got at the last gun show. I don't know when it was made, but it gives a great shave and I got it at a steal.

I have a 4/8 Henckels that shaves as well as any razor I have (even ALMOST as good as my 6/8+ dubl duck Wonderedge). I have a thick beard, and never thought a smaller razor would work. Like you, when I purchased this razor I thought it was a 5/8. I'm glad I at least gave it a shot. It is now part of my irreplaceable collection.

I was just given a cache of razors by my barber, 5 of which are probably around 4/8, all of which are in good shape and have really cool looking scales. A year ago, I would have been disappointed that these were so small... now, however, I see a lot of potential. They need to be polished and honed, but I'm excited to give them all a try.

I've had 7/8 razors that were not very good shavers, and 4/8 that are great shavers... I think most people who have been in this game for any period of time have had similar experiences.
