    Default Pleasant Surprise!

I have purchased my first two razors from members here, nice and sharp, great razors. Been at it for a few months now and can get a pretty consistent shave.

I figured I'd try my hand at an Ebay purchased razor that might need a little TLC. I ended up buying this razor for $7.50. It's an Ed Wosthof #30. Nice little humpback. It says Solingen on one side and "Best Cast Steel Sheffield" on the other. I thought it would have an edge like a hacksaw. Not so. Got the package, it's in beautiful condition. Semi sharp. Ran it over my Premier babrber hone a few times, 30 laps on White Issard pasted canvas, 30 laps on rough side of strop, 30 - 40 laps on the finished side. I got the best smoothest shave yet! The weight of the razor did all the work even with two days growth. Effortless. A little sandalwood balm and a little Pinaud Clubman (In honor of Lynn) and I'm having a great morning! Now I know why the humpbacks go like hotcakes around here.

Anyway, I'm happy. Hey! the Space Shuttle goes off in about ten minutes and I can see it from the parking lot of my office! Later.

Yes, I was once an unbeliever. Now I'm digging the Pinaud!
