little razors for little people?
Well, I usually do pretty good on Eboy but this time I must of been half asleep or something when I bid on this NOS mercur. It looked great in the picture but when I got it, it turned out to be a 2/8s. So I figured what the heck so I honed it up and it passed all the tests with flying colors but when I tried to shave with it it was terrible just kind of skipped over my face.
So the real question here is whats with a 2/8s razor? Is it really designed for shaving or is it some special application type thing. Has anyone tried shaving with one. I realized that with such a small blade it's very difficult to maintain an accurate angle and its so small and light its very difficult to control. I don't know maybe its designed for a midget or something.

Thanked: 4I use my smaller razors (5/8) for touch ups near the mustache and beard. They do well for the full shave, but I find the larger blades are easier for me on most of my face. I'll admit that I haven't used my one 4/8 for much besides 'spot shaving'.

Maybe it was a Corn Razor? Ive seen a few on ebay stating that they were used to cut corns off ones foot. Could possibly be one of those.

I have a Dovo 2/8 called a Coiffeur Razor (SP?) I think it's for delicate trimming jobs, such as shaping goatees and moustaches. I find it great under the nose and around the lipline, but not much else. I guess if you were a barber it would be good for shaving over the top of the ears, as in a military cut.
